Let's Go2Mazatlan - Articles Impulsa - Building Confidence and Credibility in Mazatlán Since 2005 I had not visited the beautiful port of Mazatlan – known worldwide as “The Pearl of the Pacific” – and my arrival was greeted by a most impacting surprise! What in my last visit I thought would take ten to fifteen years, has already begun to emerge, generating a great deal of activity in a destination whose inhabitants are now fully convinced and focused on preparing themselves to furnish world-class touristic services, services that are being demanded as a consequence of a great development in the real estate and hospitality infrastructure What is happening now in Mazatlan is the result of, on the one hand: The confidence deposited on the touristic proposal offered by this international tourist destination. On the other hand; the great interest shown by an international market looking in the direction of Mazatlan for a second home and/or, making it the place where they will make their dream of retiring come true, as well as sharing and passing on their experiences through a cultural interchange. Just like the colors on the façades of its charming historic downtown area, everything in Mazatlan is vibrating and moving on into a future that promises continuous prosperity, based on the present, well researched development of diverse and specialized real estate investment options, committed to a balanced and ecologic growth taking place mainly in the Zona Dorada, Marina Mazatlan, Cerritos and Nuevo Mazatlan areas. Touring the city I was able to discover that a great deal of the real estate offer is promoted by expert developers, With the purpose of knowing and sharing with you what is the motivation behind the drive to maintain such a quality level, I took on the duty of interviewing engineer Ricardo Clouthier, its present Touristic Projects Director. P: What is Impulsa and how was it born? R: Impulsa is part of an entrepreneurial group formed fifty years ago by Manuel Clouthier del Rincón. The Clouthier family owns enterprises in the fields of agriculture, communication media and real estate. Impulsa has been part of the real estate world for 18 years mainly focused on mid-size to touristic residential homes market in the northwest of Mexico.
In Impulsa we are creating innovative concepts that stand out from the rest of the current real estate offer, because they are always oriented to satisfying the needs and desires of a specific market niche looking for their full comfort and obtaining a great added value through time. P: Why is Impulsa investing in Mazatlan? R: The entrepreneurial group we are part of has been present in Mazatlan for the past 35 years in the field of communications. Three years ago we ventured into the real estate field. We had always been observing Mazatlan’s unique touristic attractions making it an international destination with a high potential for growth and development of residential projects for retirees.

R: Condominios Tenerife was the first Project we undertook in Mazatlan, associated with Don Roberto Tarriba, a prestigious and visionary entrepreneur from Sinaloa. After three years of launching our operations we have begun our fourth real estate project in the destination.
P: What message would you send to al those who still do not know Mazatlan, but who are planning on investing or retiring temporally or permanently? R: Firstly let me share with you that on 2007 the magazine International Living named Mexico “The best country to retire in”. In the same manner, CNNMoney.com included Mexico among the “7 most popular international second-home markets”; while The New York Times included Mazatlan within the list of the “53 places to visit during 2008”. In addition to that, Mazatlan’s popularity has placed it into the editorials of the LA Times, Houston Chronicle & Chicago Tribune. In other words, experts visualize Mazatlan consolidating with all the characteristics of a retirement destination. I also want to share with you that the right investments are being made in Mazatlan to consolidate it as a touristic, real Besides a wonderful climate and its accessibility from the main cities in the United States and Canada, Mazatlan offers an unending array of activities for an active or restful retirement. No other spot the Mexican Pacific has Mazatlan’s touristic offer, it is definitely more than sun and beach. Mazatlan is also history and culture transpiring by a great diversity of means, above all, its magnificent historic downtown area [Centro Histórico], with its colonial architecture and striking colors. Mazatlan is a romantic corner of Mexico offering ecologic and rural tourism as well as outstanding sports fishing, golf, a professional baseball league, basketball, in addition to its worldwide famous annual carnival. Added to this, Mazatlan features a top level infrastructure of specialized medical and aesthetical services.

Investments in the hospitality industry are also being made and the government is investing what is needed to create and/or improve the hydraulic, highway and services infrastructure in addition to the construction of the Picachos dam which will guarantee water supply to the region to sustain the projected growth for the next fifteen years. Just the Durango highway that will connect Mazatlan to Texas will represent an immediate 25% increase of the touristic flow.
